Trespass by Christopher Gibbons

The Florida Academy of Psychical Sciences had the pleasure of reading a new book authored by Michigan attorney Christopher M. Gibbons. Trespass is a thought provoking narrative about his personal experience with a human spirit that refused to leave a newly acquired home that he purchased for his family.
When Mr. Gibbons began working on the restoration project at this property, he intuitively knows that he is not alone and that the presence is that of a person long since deceased. Those of us involved in paranormal research immediately know that any renovation has been known to stir up any spirits that may be present on the property.
The author is Catholic and according to his faith, there is no such thing as ghosts (besides the Holy Spirit) yet he knows that what he and his family are experiencing are in fact real despite being outside of what he has come to believe spiritually.
Some readers may be a bit put off by some of what he says who do not necessarily share the author’s religious beliefs but he tells it from the perceptive of a Catholic struggling to make sense of this experience within the context of what he has come to understand as spiritual truths.
This is a very compelling read, as this story documents his spiritual growth as a result of sharing his home with this spirit. Mr. Gibbons also demonstrates what we at Miami Paranormal also know, that it can be next to impossible to obtain help from the church with matters such as these, even though this is a spiritual attack.
The malevolent spirit initially causes the author tremendous psychological anguish by attacking him in vivid and violent dreams. This is by no means unusual as spirits like these can communicate with you when your subconscious mind is open. The author’s wife and children also had other unsettling encounters including his then 4 year old daughter witnessing a man dressed in black walking through their house. Each of the members of the household also saw this entity manifest in the form of a skeleton face.
All of what this entity did had one purpose and motivation; to elicit fear and it was that fear that made it grow stronger. The accounts and descriptions of this entity and the events that unfolded, are very honest and never come across as sensationalized or exaggerated as is often the case in books written about paranormal activity.
This well written book is destined to become a classic among paranormal enthusiasts, parapsychologists, fans of Christian literature, and general readers who enjoy a great ghost story.
